The establishment of the IT hub at the BCDF Resource Centre, supported by multiple development partners, marks a significant step toward fostering digital skills, creating employment opportunities, and contributing to the region’s economic growth.

With financial support from AKRSP/AKF through its EU-funded Energy Plus project, Forts profit share from AKCSP and in collaboration with SCO and K2-Peak Technologies, an IT hub has been established at the BCDF (Baltistan Cultural & Development Foundation) Resource Centre in Hussainabad, Skardu. This hub has a capacity of 80 seats includes six dedicated rooms for IT companies. On August 11, 2025, a meeting was held with the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) infrastructure team, led by Director Infrastructure, Mr. M. Akbar. The discussion focused on the urgent need for an IT Park and e-Rozagar Centre inBaltistan. These initiatives are aimed at empowering youth, enhancing digital skills, and creating new economic opportunities within the region. The PSEB team will soon visit the existing IT facility, which is currently operated by BCDF with technical support from K2 Peak Technologies. The forthcoming support from PSEB is expected to make the centre sustainable and enable it to produce a skilled workforce, which in turn will contribute to increasing the country’s foreign remittances.
